Al Qarqawi leads the 'Committed, my nation' campaign

The president of the UAE and Arab federations urged everyone in the game to follow the government's instructions and remain at home.

The president of the UAE and Arab basketball federations, Major General Ismail Al Qarqawi, has called on everyone in the game to follow the government's instructions on staying at home.

Al Qarqawi also urged everyone to follow the health guidance until the coronavirus crisis passes, as part of a campaign he is leading with the board and the players.

“We must recognise the seriousness of the global health situation. The Emirates is part of this world, and we see the rapid and successive measures taken by our wise government to bring us safely through these circumstances,” he said.

He added: “I call on every basketball player, coach and member, and on all athletes, to keep our covenant with the nation under the banner ‘Committed, my nation'.”

Board member and technical committee chairman Osama Qarqash supported the campaign, stressing the need for full compliance with the government's instructions.

Former international Ali Al Hattawi, currently the country's most senior basketball figure, expressed his confidence that all athletes would set an example in doing what is asked of them and staying at home.
