Sharjah win the Vice President's Cup for the first time
An 82-81 win over Shabab Al Ahli at Al Wasl gave Sharjah the Vice President's Cup for the first time in the club's history.
Sharjah won the H.H. the Vice President's Cup for the first time in the club's history, beating Shabab Al Ahli 82-81 in the final at Al Wasl's hall, in the presence of Major General Ismail Al Qarqawi, president of the UAE and Arab basketball federations, Issa Hilal, chairman of Sharjah Sports Council, Ali Salem Al Midfa, chairman of Sharjah club, federation vice-president Abdullatif Al Fardan, executive office head Mohammed Abdullah Al Haj, secretary general Salem Al Mutawa, and members of the federation board.
It is Sharjah's second title of the 2020/21 season, after taking the H.H. the President's Cup — also against Shabab Al Ahli — while Shabab Al Ahli won the league shield. The two clubs met head to head in the final of all three competitions.
The season's closing match was thoroughly tense. Sharjah led by a wide margin in the first half, but Shabab Al Ahli rallied in the third quarter, scoring 20 points to Sharjah's 11, and the gap was down to a single point in the closing seconds.
