Sharjah win the President's Cup

Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi presented the 21st President's Cup to Sharjah after a one-point win over Shabab Al Ahli in the final.

Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, deputy head of the Ruler of Sharjah's office in Khorfakkan, presented the 21st H.H. the President's Cup to Sharjah's men after an 81-79 win over Shabab Al Ahli in the final at Khorfakkan's hall. The final was a fitting close to the season, settled in overtime after regulation ended level at 69-69. The win returns the cup to Sharjah after an 11-year absence and is the club's ninth title.

The closing ceremony was attended by Major General Ismail Al Qarqawi, president of the Arab and UAE basketball federations, Issa Hilal Al Hazami, chairman of Sharjah Sports Council, Abdulaziz Bouhindi, director of the General Authority of Sports office in the Eastern Region, federation vice-president Abdullatif Al Fardan, secretary general Salem Al Mutawa, the chairmen of both clubs and a gathering of figures from the sporting movement.

Al Qarqawi thanked both teams on finals day, and the other clubs that took part in the competition, noting the good standard both sides produced, worthy of the competition's standing. He praised the precautionary measures the federation had put in place in cooperation with the clubs, which contributed considerably to delivering the competition properly in every respect.
