Sharjah retain the Federation Cup

Sharjah beat Al Wasl 97-88 after extra time at Al Wasl's Sheikh Rashid bin Maktoum hall to take the open men's Federation Cup for a second season running.
Sharjah were crowned champions of the open men's Federation Cup for a second consecutive season, beating Al Wasl 97-88 in the final at the Sheikh Rashid bin Maktoum hall at Al Wasl, after extra time — regulation having ended level at 83-83 — in a match full of entertainment and even contest, watched by an excellent crowd.
It was clear from the start that the game would be straightforward for neither side, and both coaches got the best from their plans and ideas on court. Egyptian coach Ahmed Omar took his first title with his new club, while Abdulhamid Ibrahim produced an outstanding performance from Al Wasl right to the closing moments, earning his team everyone's respect.
Al Nasr took the bronze medal and third place after beating Shabab Al Ahli 85-82. The champions were presented with the trophy by Major General Ismail Al Qarqawi, president of the Arab federation, in the presence of Issa Hilal, chairman of Sharjah Sports Council, Ali Al Midfa, chairman of Sharjah club, engineer Azza bint Sulayman, assistant secretary general of the National Olympic Committee for administrative and financial affairs, and members of the basketball federation's board.
