Sharjah beat Al Bataeh 100-78 in the first leg of the men's league semi-final at Sharjah's hall, leading by quarters of 27-23, 29-19, 25-22 and 19-14 in a strong contest — Sharjah keen to move closer to retaining the title, Al Bataeh looking to cause an upset.
The crew was internationals Salem Al Zaabi and Amer Sijari with Fatih, supervised by international commissioner Hussein Al Balushi.
The second leg is next Saturday at Al Bataeh's hall. Another Sharjah win takes them to the final; an Al Bataeh victory would force a deciding third game.
