Shabab Al Ahli top the first round with a perfect record
A 96-92 win over Sharjah in round seven left Shabab Al Ahli unbeaten on 12 points at the halfway stage of the men's league.
With the end of round seven, closing the first half of the men's basketball league, Shabab Al Ahli topped the table unbeaten on 12 points after a 96-92 win over Sharjah at Sharjah's hall. Sharjah are second on 11 points. The match, a strong contest between two leading sides, was handled by internationals Salem Al Zaabi and Mohammed Rayan with Fatih Oglu, supervised by international commissioner Hussein Al Balushi.
Al Nasr are third on 10 points after opening the round with a 107-73 win over Al Wahda at their hall in Dubai, taking all four quarters 26-20, 25-15, 28-21 and 28-17. Al Wahda move to seven points in sixth. The game was handled by international Hassan Haji with Kostas and Zaid Dhiya.
In the third match Al Wasl beat Al Dhafra 89-70 at home, by quarters of 28-16, 22-17, 21-23 and 18-14, taking Al Wasl to nine points in fourth and leaving Al Dhafra on six in seventh and last. Al Bataeh, who had a bye this round, are fifth on eight points.
