Shabab Al Ahli edge Al Nasr in the league final first leg
An 86-80 win at home leaves Shabab Al Ahli one result from the title, with the second leg on 29 April.
Shabab Al Ahli beat Al Nasr 86-80 in the first leg of the men's basketball league final, played at Shabab Al Ahli's hall in Dubai. The second leg is on 29 April: another Shabab Al Ahli win takes the title, while an Al Nasr victory would force a deciding game on 5 May at the same venue.
It was a hard contest. Al Nasr showed their intent in a first quarter they took 28-18, but Shabab Al Ahli won each of the other three — the second by four at 28-24, the third 18-12 and the fourth 22-16.
The game was handled by an international crew of Yaqoub Ghabash, Hassan Haji and Salem Al Zaabi, with international commissioner Hussein Al Balushi supervising.
