Shabab Al Ahli and Al Bataeh reach the semi-finals

Shabab Al Ahli and Al Bataeh reached the men's league semi-finals after repeating their wins over Al Wasl and Al Wahda in the quarter-final second legs, Shabab Al Ahli winning 78-61 and Al Bataeh 77-71.

The quarter-finals are played as a best-of-three, a first and second leg with a decider if the sides are level. Both Shabab Al Ahli and Al Bataeh reached the last four without needing one, having won their first legs last week 89-67 and 91-86 respectively.

In the match that put Shabab Al Ahli into the semi-finals — their preferred position every season — they took the first, second and fourth quarters 19-16, 21-14 and 16-9, with Al Wasl's 25-20 third quarter not enough to turn the match around.

In the second match Al Wahda produced a fine performance against Al Bataeh and the game hung in the balance until the closing minutes. Al Bataeh took the first and third quarters 24-12 and 19-14, Al Wahda the second 28-17, and the fourth finished level at 17-17.
