President's Cup draw made

The draw for the H.H. the President's Cup was made alongside the first leg of the league final, establishing the four teams that will contest the preliminary round of a competition running from 13 March to 3 April, played as single-match knockouts.

The draw sent Al Nasr and Al Wasl into the first preliminary tie, deciding who meets Al Ain in the opening quarter-final, and put Al Wahda and Al Dhafra into the second, with the winner facing Bani Yas in the second match of the last eight.

The draw format, attended by the president of the UAE and Arab federations Major General Ismail Al Qarqawi and vice-president Abdullatif Al Fardan, gave last season's league champions and runners-up, Sharjah and Shabab Al Ahli, direct passage to the quarter-finals. The ceremony was then completed by drawing four of the ten competing clubs to also advance directly to the last eight, against four required to play a preliminary round deciding the two teams that complete the quarter-finals.

On the draw, Sharjah meet Al Jazira in the third quarter-final, with the round closing with Shabab Al Ahli against Al Bataeh.
