Draw made for the President's Cup
The federation drew the men's, women's and age-group cup competitions at its headquarters, with the secretary general and technical director in attendance.
The draws for the men's, women's and age-group basketball cups were made at federation headquarters in a warm Ramadan atmosphere, attended by secretary general Salem Al Mutawa, technical director Dr Mounir Ben Habib, referees committee secretary Qassem Daadoush and delegates from every competing club.
Seven teams enter the President's Cup for men. League champions Shabab Al Ahli were seeded at the head of Group A and runners-up Sharjah at the head of Group B. The draw paired Al Bataeh with Shabab Al Ahli and Al Wasl with Al Wahda in Group A, and Al Nasr with Al Dhafra in Group B; Sharjah advanced directly to the semi-finals, where they will meet the winner of Al Nasr and Al Dhafra. The competition starts on 13 May.
Nine clubs enter the Youth Cup. League champions Shabab Al Ahli head Group A and last season's cup winners Al Wasl head Group B. The draw put Shabab Al Ahli against Sharjah and Al Nasr against Al Jazira, with the winner of those two meeting Al Bataeh; Group B has Al Wasl against Al Ain and Bani Yas against Al Wahda. Play begins on 14 May.
Twelve teams enter the Juniors Cup, with league champions Al Nasr heading Group A and Sharjah Group B. The draw produced Al Nasr against Bani Yas, Al Bataeh against Al Dhaid and Mleiha against Al Jazira; in Group B, Al Wasl meet Shabab Al Ahli, Khorfakkan meet Ittihad Kalba and Sharjah meet Al Ain. This stage begins on the 27th of this month.
Sixteen teams enter the Cadets Cup. Al Nasr head Group A as league champions and Khorfakkan head Group B as cup holders. The draw gave Al Nasr against Al Ain, Shabab Al Ahli against Al Madam, Sharjah against Al Jazira Al Hamra and Al Dhafra against Mleiha; in Group B, Khorfakkan meet Al Jazira, Al Hamriyah meet Dibba Al Hisn, Al Dhaid meet Ittihad Kalba and Al Wasl meet Al Bataeh. Matches start on 7 May.
