Board decisions

The board postponed the cup draws, including the age-group stages, to 29 March in light of the health situation.

The board of the UAE Basketball Association, chaired by Major General Ismail Al Qarqawi, has announced the postponement of the cup draws to 29 March, including the competition's stages, in anticipation of the current health situation across the region and the world.

The board decided to cancel the H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Cup, while the H.H. the President's Cup for women was exempted from postponement, with its draw to be held or otherwise decided on 29 March.

The men's league will continue as it stands, with arrangements being made for the best-of-three second stage, whose participating teams are now fully and finally established.

The board set the start of the new 2020/21 season as follows: the age-group competitions will begin on 18 September 2020 and the men's competitions on 20 October.

The board also decided to limit the new men's season to three competitions: the league, the President's Cup and the Vice President's Cup.

On the Federation Cup, it was decided that the competition will continue but under the name of the Vice President's Cup; the previous Vice President's Cup format will be dropped and the Federation Cup format, with Emirati players, adopted.

The board also fixed youth matches for Fridays and men's matches for Saturdays and Tuesdays each week.

Overseas referees

The board confirmed that it rejects in principle the use of overseas referees in the game, but permitted clubs wishing to do so to bring officials at their own cost of 5,000 dirhams per referee.
