Women's 3x3 team win Gulf Games gold

The women's 3x3 national team took the title at the third Gulf Games in Kuwait and were welcomed home at the airport by the federation president.
The women's 3x3 national basketball team were crowned champions of the third Gulf Games, held in Kuwait, after an outstanding performance. The squad were given a warm reception at the airport on their return, attended by federation president Major General Ismail Al Qarqawi, vice-president Abdullatif Al Fardan, board member and finance director Mohammed Abdullah Al Haj, board member and media committee chairman Farid Al Qaiwani, players from the men's national team, and delegates from Sheikha Fatima Academy and Sharjah Women's Sport Club.
Maitha bin Dawi, board member, women's committee chair and team manager, said she was delighted with the achievement: “We offer our warmest congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to Their Highnesses the Rulers and Crown Princes, to the people of the Emirates, to Emirati sport, to the Basketball Association under Major General Ismail Al Qarqawi, and to everyone who loves and belongs to the game. We thank the players and the technical and administrative staff for the effort they put in.”
“This significant achievement is the fruit of cooperation between the federation and the sports clubs that support women's sport in general,” she added.
“Our aim was clear from the outset — first place and the gold medal.”
