The senior men's team won gold at the third Gulf Games in Kuwait, ahead of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar.
The senior men's national team won the gold medal at the third Gulf Games, held in Kuwait with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar also competing.
The team produced excellent performances that earned the title. The tournament peaked in the final against hosts Kuwait, a contest that was gripping from first to last, which Al Abyad won 76-73.
Emirati basketball showed it is capable of recovering its golden era. The technical staff under Dr Mounir Ben Habib, his assistants, and the administrative staff led by national teams director Rashed Abdullah all worked hard to prepare the players properly before the tournament.
