Federation president honours the team for reaching the final Asian qualifying round

The squad was recognised for progressing to the third and final stage of West Asian qualifying for the 2025 Asia Cup and the World Cup.
Major General Ismail Al Qarqawi, president of the UAE and Arab basketball federations, honoured the senior men's national team for reaching the third and final stage of West Asian qualifying for the 2025 Asia Cup and the World Cup, due in November. The dinner, held at his farm in Al Khawaneej in Dubai, recognised the players and their administrative and technical staff.
Al Qarqawi thanked the squad and staff for the efforts that produced qualification, and turned to the stage ahead and the demands of preparing for the final round, which will require a combined effort.
“We are confident the General Authority of Sports will not fall short in supporting the team and making its preparation what it needs to be,” he said, “as it has always done in backing every national team that does the country credit abroad, at every level.”
He set out the preparation plan for the final round, which includes friendly matches against Arab and Gulf sides or entry into tournaments, noting that it requires a dedicated budget, the release of players and a full-time medical team. He thanked Shabab Al Ahli for releasing a physiotherapist to the national team, and Sharjah for providing a masseur during the recent window in Doha.
