Abdulhamid Ibrahim: our camp was only 20 days
The national team coach pointed to the absence of a recognised playmaker against Bahrain, with four players used in the role.
Abdulhamid Ibrahim, coach of the national basketball team, said the side missed having a recognised playmaker, with four players used in that position in the match against Bahrain. He noted that the absence of Hussein Ali, injured in the game against Tunisia, had a relative effect on the team while at the same time easing Bahrain's task.
The coach congratulated Bahrain on the win and on a strong performance built on several factors, among them the opposition's high volume of training hours from continuous work over the past 12 months, as well as the intensive international programme of the Bahraini players. He added that the UAE's camp lasted no more than 20 days, and that in its second phase the team played three matches against African sides.
